MZK Scholarship
Sporting California, USA is pleased to announce our 3rd annual MZK Scholarship brought to you by a former Sporting California, USA and the Alumni Association Program established in 2024. The Sporting California, USA College Pathways Program is awarding 3 athletes (1 freshman, sophomore, and junior) that will receive $1000 each year until their senior year of high school. This $1000 scholarship will go towards their Sporting California USA dues as a way to support your college pathway. The scholarship award can also go towards paying for college showcases and ID Camps to help with costs associated with college soccer.
NOTE: This is a separate scholarship than the one given by coaches. This scholarship is awarded through the college program and alumni association and does not have low income requirements.
A $1,000 MZK Scholarship will be awarded to THREE top scholar SPORTING athletes

1 current Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Sporting California, USA Male or Female Sporting California, USA player

Scholarship is given to a player to help with expenses in their pursuit towards college soccer such as club fees, ID Camps and Showcases.

This scholarship will be awarded to a player that demonstrates academic excellence while also has shown a commitment and passion for playing soccer.

Each recipient will be awarded $1000 each academic year in high school while they are a registered athlete at Sporting California USA.
Scholarship Reward
$1000 award each academic year in high school
Each awarded athlete will also receive 1 pair of soccer cleats
Eligibility Criteria

Must be a current high school athlete

Must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 (Cumulative GPA)

Must be a registered player for Sporting California, USA 2025-2026 season
-
Must be committed to pursuing a College University or Community College

Funds must be used to help assist with club fees and/or college related fees such as Camp IDs and Showcases

Athlete must be registered for the College Pathways Program and an active participant (must attend workshops, panels, and other events)

This application must be completed and submitted before the deadline: Friday, October 3rd by midnight

Must have no owed dues to the club

Betty Williams Memorial Scholarship
In honor of the life and legacy of the esteemed co-founder of Sporting California USA Arsenal, Betty Williams, we are proud to announce the creation of the Betty Williams Memorial Scholarship. Betty Williams was a trailblazer in the world of women's soccer, dedicating her life to empowering young athletes and providing them with the opportunity to achieve their dreams. Through her unwavering commitment and passion for the game, she helped shape the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on the Southern California soccer community. To celebrate Betty's extraordinary contributions and continue her impactful work, the Betty Williams Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student-athlete who embodies the values and spirit that Betty so ardently championed.
A $2,000 Betty Williams Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to ONE Sporting Athlete

Scholarship Reward

Eligibility Criteria:

A Sporting California, USA high school senior athlete

Demonstrated excellence in academics and athletics
-
Active involvement in the Sporting California, USA soccer program (attended and participated in the college program and other club events and functions)

Commitment to community service and leadership
-
Has been with Sporting California, USA for a minimum of 2 years

Must have no owed dues to the club

Letter of recommendation from A Sporting California, USA coach (Past or present)

Personal essay (500-800 words) describing the applicant's soccer journey, community involvement, and how Betty Williams' journey inspires them to continue her legacy

Write a summary (100 words or less) of how you plan to stay connected with the Sporting California, USA community and be an ambassador

Scholarship recipient winners will be notified and announced at Senior Night Which will take place on Friday, May 23rd at 5pm at Mt.SAC, Attendance is required. Please make sure to RSVP.

The scholarship award should be used to cover college books and supplies and other educational expenses for the recipient's academic pursuits. The selected scholar will also have the opportunity to serve as an ambassador for the Sporting California, USA Arsenal program, sharing their story and inspiring the next generation of young athletes. The selected scholars will continue to be part of the Sporting Community, being involved as an ambassador of our alumni association.
